Jamaican Artist Nelson Cooper

Jamaican Painter David Boxer "I didn't choose art, art chose me."

Born on October 19, 1938 in Kingston, Jamaica. He is an entirely self-taught artist with great admiration for the great masters, their techniques and their talent to portray more than what they see.
Charming and extraordinarily understanding are two qualities that would describe both Nelson Cooper and his work. Very often his work portrays personalities surrounding him, both in reality and imagination.
His famous madonnas and self portraits are as tender and melancholic as his memories of past years relating to the close ties to hismother and the introspective and spiritual evaluation that occured in him after her death. His choice of color is surprisingly bright and vibrant, perhaps a reflection of his optimist and cheerful self.
